Here’s a Cheesy Hamburger Potato Casserole recipe you can make easily at home — hearty, comforting, and full of flavor!

🧀 Cheesy Hamburger Potato Casserole

Ingredients (serves 4–6)

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 4–5 medium potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced (or diced)
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (10.5 oz / 300 ml) cream of mushroom soup (or cream of celery)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1–2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp butter or olive oil
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • Optional add‑ins: sliced mushrooms, bell pepper, paprika, parsley

Instructions

1. Preheat Oven

Preheat oven to 375 °F (190 °C).

2. Cook the Beef

  • In a large skillet, heat butter/oil over medium heat.
  • Add chopped onion and garlic; sauté until softened.
  • Add ground beef and cook until browned.
  • Season with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce (if using).
  • Drain excess fat.

3. Make Creamy Sauce

  • In a bowl, mix the cream soup + milk until smooth.

4. Assemble the Casserole

  • Lightly grease a 9×13″ (or similar) baking dish.
  • Layer half the potatoes on the bottom.
  • Spread half the cooked beef mixture over the potatoes.
  • Pour half the creamy soup mixture on top.
  • Add a layer of cheese (½–1 cup).
  • Repeat layers: remaining potatoes → beef → creamy soup → cheese.

5. Bake

  • Cover with foil and bake 45–55 minutes until potatoes are tender.
  • Remove foil and bake another 10–15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.

6. Serve

Let cool 5–10 minutes, then garnish with parsley and serve! Great with a salad or steamed veggies.

🔥 Tips & Variations

  • Extra veggies: Add sliced mushrooms or bell peppers when browning the beef.
  • Spicy kick: Stir in a dash of chili flakes or hot sauce.
  • Sauce swap: Use cream of chicken or cheddar soup for a cheesier sauce.
  • Slow cooker version: Layer everything in a slow cooker and cook low 6–7 hrs or high 3–4 hrs.
