Here’s a simple recipe to make your own version of Outback Steakhouse’s Alice Springs Chicken at home!

Alice Springs Chicken Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
  • 4 slices of cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 1/4 cup honey mustard (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional)

For Honey Mustard Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional, for tang)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Chicken:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels, then drizzle with olive oil and season both sides with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and dried thyme.
  2. Cook the Chicken:
    • Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the chicken breasts for 6-7 minutes on each side until they’re golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). If your pan isn’t large enough, cook the chicken in batches.
  3. Assemble the Dish:
    • Once the chicken is cooked, transfer it to a baking dish. Spread a little of the honey mustard sauce over the top of each chicken breast.
    • Sprinkle with the crumbled bacon, followed by both the cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses.
  4. Bake:
    • Bake the chicken in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Make the Honey Mustard Sauce (Optional but Recommended):
    • In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, honey, and lemon juice. Taste and adjust with more honey or mustard depending on your sweetness/tang preference.
  6. Serve:
    • Once the chicken is out of the oven, drizzle with a little extra honey mustard sauce, and serve with your favorite sides like mashed potatoes, veggies, or a baked potato.

Tips:

  • Grilled Version: For a smokier flavor, you can grill the chicken instead of pan-frying.
  • Make it Spicy: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a drizzle of hot sauce for a little heat.
  • Customize the Sauce: If you prefer a tangier sauce, use a little more Dijon mustard and less honey.

This recipe is a great way to get the taste of Outback Steakhouse’s Alice Springs Chicken right at home! Let me know how it turns out if you try it!
