Pizza Burger Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 tsp garlic powder (or 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced)
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup pizza sauce (or marinara)
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar or provolone (optional but 🔥)
  • 1 refrigerated pie crust (or homemade)
  • Optional toppings:
    • Pepperoni slices
    • Cooked sausage or bacon
    • Mushrooms, olives, bell peppers

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the beef
    • In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and onion until browned.
    • Drain excess grease.
    • Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Build the pie
    • Press pie crust into a greased 9-inch pie dish.
    • Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce on the bottom.
    • Add cooked beef mixture evenly.
    • Sprinkle with mozzarella and other cheeses.
    • Add pepperoni or other toppings.
    • Finish with another light drizzle of sauce.
  4. Bake
    • Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes, until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.
  5. Rest & serve
    • Let sit 5–10 minutes before slicing (this helps it hold together).

Variations (Highly Recommended)

  • Cheeseburger Pizza Pie: Swap pizza sauce for ketchup + mustard swirl
  • Deep-Dish Style: Use two crusts (top + bottom)
  • Low-Carb Version: Skip crust and bake in a greased skillet
  • Stuffed Crust: Line edge with mozzarella sticks before folding crust
