Here’s a Cracker Barrel–style Meatloaf recipe that closely matches the classic: tender, slightly sweet, and topped with a rich tomato glaze.


Cracker Barrel Meatloaf (Copycat Recipe)

Ingredients

Meatloaf

  • 1½ lb ground beef (80/20 works best)
  • ¾ cup crushed Ritz crackers (about 20–22 crackers)
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 eggs
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder

Topping

  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a loaf pan or baking dish.
  2. Make the meat mixture
    In a large bowl, combine crushed crackers and milk. Let soak 1–2 minutes.
    Add onion, eggs, ketchup, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently.
  3. Add beef
    Gently fold in ground beef until just combined (don’t overmix or it’ll be dense).
  4. Shape
    Press mixture into the loaf pan or shape free-form on a lined baking sheet.
  5. Make topping
    Mix ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard. Spread evenly over the meatloaf.
  6. Bake
    Bake uncovered for 60–70 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  7. Rest
    Let rest 10 minutes before slicing.

Tips for Authentic Flavor

  • Ritz crackers are key—they give that soft Cracker Barrel texture.
  • Don’t swap milk for water.
  • Finely chopped onion keeps the loaf moist.
  • For extra juiciness, bake in a pan but drain excess grease halfway through.

Optional Add-Ins (Still Very Cracker Barrel–Friendly)

  • ¼ cup finely chopped green bell pepper
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp paprika
