Fried Rice

Here’s a simple, classic fried rice recipe you can make in about 15 minutes 🍚

Basic Fried Rice

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked rice (cold, day-old is best)
  • 2 tbsp oil (vegetable or sesame)
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup onion (optional)
  • ½–1 cup mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn, etc.)
  • 2–3 tbsp soy sauce
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Optional: green onions, sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a wok or large pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Scramble eggs quickly, then remove and set aside.
  3. Add a bit more oil if needed. Sauté garlic and onion until fragrant.
  4. Add vegetables and stir-fry 1–2 minutes.
  5. Add rice, breaking up clumps. Fry until hot and slightly crispy.
  6. Stir in soy sauce, salt, and pepper.
  7. Add eggs back in and mix well.
  8. Finish with green onions or a few drops of sesame oil if you like.

Easy Variations

  • Chicken fried rice: Add cooked diced chicken.
  • Egg-only: Skip veggies, add extra egg.
  • Spicy: Add chili oil or sriracha.
  • Chinese-style: Add a pinch of sugar + white pepper.
