Say less 😄 Here’s a simple homemade chocolate bar recipe—easy, customizable, and way better than it sounds.


Homemade Chocolate Bar

Makes: 2–3 medium bars
Prep time: 10 minutes
Chill time: 30–45 minutes

Ingredients

Base chocolate

  • ½ cup cocoa powder (unsweetened)
  • ½ cup coconut oil (or cocoa butter for classic texture)
  • ¼ cup honey, maple syrup, or powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Optional add-ins

  • Chopped nuts (almonds, peanuts, hazelnuts)
  • Rice cereal or puffed rice
  • Dried fruit
  • Sea salt flakes
  • Caramel bits or peanut butter swirl

Instructions

  1. Melt the fat
    Gently melt coconut oil (or cocoa butter) in a saucepan over low heat.
  2. Mix chocolate
    Whisk in cocoa powder until smooth. Remove from heat.
  3. Sweeten & flavor
    Stir in sweetener, vanilla, and salt. Taste and adjust sweetness.
  4. Add extras
    Fold in any add-ins you like.
  5. Mold it
    Pour into silicone molds, a lined loaf pan, or spread thin on parchment.
  6. Chill
    Refrigerate 30–45 minutes until firm.
  7. Break or slice
    Store in the fridge or freezer (especially if using coconut oil).

Tips for the Best Bar

  • Cocoa butter = snappier chocolate
  • Coconut oil = softer, melt-in-your-mouth
  • Sift cocoa powder to avoid graininess
  • Keep cold if your kitchen is warm

Flavor Ideas

  • Milk chocolate: Add 2 tbsp powdered milk
  • Dark chocolate: Use less sweetener
  • Peanut butter bar: Swirl in ¼ cup peanut butter
  • Almond joy vibe: Coconut flakes + almonds
  • Sea salt bar: Sprinkle flaky salt on top before chilling
