For the cabbage rolls:

  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)

  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  2. Mix until well combined.

3️⃣ Assemble the Rolls

  1. Place 2–3 tablespoons of filling on the center of a cabbage leaf.
  2. Fold the sides over and roll tightly. Repeat with remaining leaves and filling.

4️⃣ Prepare the Sauce

  1. In a saucepan, combine tomato sauce, tomato paste, olive oil, sugar, water/broth, salt, and pepper.
  2. Bring to a gentle simmer.

5️⃣ Cook the Rolls

  1. Place cabbage rolls seam-side down in a large baking dish or deep skillet.
  2. Pour tomato sauce over the rolls, covering them completely.
  3. Cover with a lid or foil and simmer on low heat for 45–60 minutes until cabbage is tender and filling is cooked through.
