🥖 Baked Italian Sub Sandwiches

Warm, melty, and packed with bold deli flavor — baked Italian subs are perfect for family dinners, game day, or an easy crowd-pleaser meal.


🛒 Ingredients (4 sandwiches)

  • 4 sub rolls or hoagie rolls
  • ½ lb sliced salami
  • ½ lb sliced ham
  • ½ lb sliced pepperoni
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • ½ cup sliced banana peppers (optional but classic)
  • ½ small red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tomato, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • ½ tsp garlic powder

Optional: lettuce (add after baking)


🔥 Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice rolls lengthwise without cutting all the way through.
  3. Layer meats evenly inside each roll.
  4. Add provolone and a sprinkle of mozzarella.
  5. Top with banana peppers and red onion (save tomato for after baking if you prefer less moisture).
  6. Mix olive oil with Italian seasoning and drizzle lightly over the fillings.
  7. Close sandwiches and brush tops with melted butter + garlic powder.
  8. Wrap loosely in foil and bake 10–15 minutes until cheese is melted.
  9. Open foil for the last 2–3 minutes for a lightly crisp top.
  10. Add fresh tomato and lettuce after baking if desired.

🧄 Optional Italian Dressing (Drizzle After Baking)

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • Pinch salt
  • Pinch oregano
  • Cracked black pepper

Whisk and drizzle lightly inside the sandwich before serving.
