Very dirty mop, don’t buy it again: a drop of this ingredient and it will be like new.

Posted on March 8, 2026 by Admin

Posts like “Very dirty mop? Add one drop of this ingredient and it will be like new” are usually referring to white vinegar (sometimes mixed with baking soda). The idea is that vinegar helps break down dirt, grease, and odors in mop fibers.

🧽 Simple way to clean a very dirty mop

What you need:

  • Warm water
  • White vinegar
  • A bucket

Steps:

  1. Fill a bucket with hot or very warm water.
  2. Add ½–1 cup of white vinegar.
  3. Put the mop head in the mixture.
  4. Let it soak for 20–30 minutes.
  5. Rinse with clean water and let it dry completely.

Why vinegar works

Vinegar contains acetic acid, which helps:

  • Break down grease and grime
  • Remove bad odors
  • Kill some bacteria and mold

For extremely dirty mops

If the mop is very greasy or smells bad:

  • Add 1 tablespoon of dish soap with the vinegar soak.
  • Wash the mop head in the washing machine (if it’s removable and machine-safe).

⚠️ Important

  • Don’t mix vinegar with bleach (dangerous fumes).
  • If the mop fibers are falling apart or permanently stained, it’s better to replace it.

✅ Cleaning your mop regularly keeps it from spreading germs around the floor instead of cleaning it.
