Posted on March 12, 2026 by Admin

Cabbage stew is a simple, hearty dish made by slowly simmering cabbage with vegetables, spices, and sometimes meat. It’s inexpensive, healthy, and very comforting. 🥬🍲 Here’s an easy version you can make at home.

Ingredients

  • 1 small head of Cabbage, chopped
  • 1 medium Onion, diced
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 medium Carrots, sliced
  • 2 medium Potatoes, cubed (optional)
  • 2 cups Tomato (chopped or canned)
  • 4 cups vegetable or chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • Salt and Black pepper to taste
  • Optional: beef, sausage, or beans for extra protein

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add onion and garlic; sauté until fragrant (about 2–3 minutes).
  3. Add carrots and potatoes; cook for another 3–4 minutes.
  4. Stir in chopped cabbage and tomatoes.
  5. Pour in broth, add paprika, salt, and pepper.
  6. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer 25–30 minutes until vegetables are tender.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning. Serve hot. 🍲

Optional Variations

  • Meaty version: Add browned beef or sausage.
  • Spicy version: Add chili flakes or fresh chili. 🌶️
