🧀 Air-Fryer Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

Ingredients (1 sandwich)

  • 2 slices bread (white, sourdough, brioche—dealer’s choice)
  • 1–2 slices cheese (American for classic melt, or cheddar, Swiss, provolone, etc.)
  • Softened butter or mayo (trust me on the mayo—it browns beautifully)

Instructions

  1. Preheat air fryer to 370°F (188°C) for ~3 minutes.
  2. Butter or mayo one side of each bread slice.
  3. Place cheese between the unbuttered sides of the bread.
  4. Put the sandwich in the air fryer buttered side down.
    • Optional pro move: use a toothpick to keep it from flying open.
  5. Air fry 4–5 minutes, then flip.
  6. Cook another 3–4 minutes until golden brown and melty.

Tips for Peak Grilled Cheese

  • 🧀 Cheese not melting? Lower temp to 350°F and cook a minute longer.
  • 🍞 Too dark too fast? Light bread browns quicker—check early.
  • 🔥 Extra crispy? Spray a tiny bit of oil on the outside.
  • 🧄 Level it up: add garlic powder, everything-bagel seasoning, or a thin tomato slice.
