Here’s a simple and classic baked potato recipe that gives you a fluffy interior and a crisp skin every time.


🍽️ Classic Baked Potato

Ingredients:

  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (or vegetable oil)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Optional toppings: butter, sour cream, shredded cheese, chives, bacon bits

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven
    Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Prepare Potatoes
    • Scrub the potatoes thoroughly under running water.
    • Pat them dry with a towel.
    • Prick each potato 6–8 times with a fork to allow steam to escape during baking.
  3. Oil and Salt
    • Rub each potato with olive oil.
    • Sprinkle generously with salt (this helps make the skin crispy).
  4. Bake
    • Place potatoes directly on the oven rack (you can put a baking sheet on the lower rack to catch drips).
    • Bake for 45–60 minutes, depending on potato size.
    • Test doneness by inserting a fork or skewer — it should slide in easily.
  5. Serve
    • Slice a slit down the center of each potato.
    • Fluff the insides with a fork.
    • Add butter, sour cream, cheese, chives, or your favorite toppings.

💡 Tips:

  • For extra crispy skin, after oiling and salting, place potatoes directly on the oven rack without foil.
  • For faster cooking, microwave the potato for 5–6 minutes first, then bake for 20–25 minutes.
  • Russet potatoes are best because of their starchy texture, which gives a fluffy inside.
