Banana Bread with Cream Cheese Icing

Here’s a classic, ultra-moist banana bread with cream cheese icing—easy, cozy, and dangerously good.


Banana Bread

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • ½ cup melted butter (or neutral oil)
  • ¾ cup brown sugar (or mix brown + white)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (optional but recommended)
  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 175°C / 350°F. Grease a loaf pan.
  2. Mix mashed bananas + melted butter.
  3. Whisk in sugar, egg, and vanilla.
  4. Sprinkle in baking soda, salt, cinnamon; mix.
  5. Fold in flour just until combined (don’t overmix).
  6. Bake 50–60 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool completely before icing (important!).

Cream Cheese Icing 🤍

Ingredients

  • 115 g / 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (adjust to taste)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 1–2 tbsp milk or cream (for spreadable texture)

Instructions

  1. Beat cream cheese + butter until smooth.
  2. Add powdered sugar and vanilla.
  3. Mix in milk a little at a time until silky.
  4. Spread generously over cooled banana bread.

Optional upgrades (highly encouraged)

  • 🥜 Add walnuts or pecans to the batter
  • 🍫 Chocolate chips inside the bread
  • 🍯 Honey or maple syrup drizzle on top of the icing
  • 🧂 Tiny pinch of salt in the icing = chef’s kiss
