Cheesy Garlic Breadsticks Recipe

Ingredients:

For the dough:

  • 2 1/4 tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F / 43°C)
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

For the garlic butter topping:

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2–3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp dried parsley (or 1 tbsp fresh)
  • 1/2 tsp salt

For the cheese topping:

  • 1–1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella (or a mix of mozzarella + cheddar)
  • Optional: grated Parmesan for extra flavor

Instructions:

  1. Make the dough:
    • In a small bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
    • In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add yeast mixture and olive oil. Knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
    • Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, until doubled in size.
  2. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Shape the breadsticks:
    • Punch down the dough and roll it into a rectangle (~12×8 inches).
    • Cut into strips (~1 inch wide). Place on the baking sheet.
  4. Make garlic butter:
    • Mix melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, and salt. Brush generously over the breadsticks.
  5. Add cheese:
    • Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly on top.
  6. Bake:
    • Bake 12–15 minutes, until golden and cheese is melted. Optional: broil 1–2 minutes for extra golden cheese.
  7. Serve warm with marinara sauce, ranch, or just as-is.

These breadsticks are crispy on the edges, soft inside, and insanely cheesy—perfect for movie nights or as a side to pizza or pasta.
