Classic comfort plate right there 😍 Here’s a fried chicken tenders with mashed potatoes combo that feels diner-perfect but doable at home.


Fried Chicken Tenders with Mashed Potatoes

🍗 Crispy Fried Chicken Tenders

Ingredients

  • 1½ lb chicken tenders
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder

Breading

  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp pepper

Instructions

  1. Marinate chicken in buttermilk + seasonings for 30 min–overnight.
  2. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
  3. Dredge chicken in flour mixture, pressing firmly.
  4. Fry 3–4 minutes per side until golden and cooked through.
  5. Drain on a wire rack; salt lightly while hot.

🥔 Creamy Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients

  • 2 lb Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes, peeled & cubed
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • ½–¾ cup warm milk or cream
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Boil potatoes in salted water until fork-tender (15–20 min).
  2. Drain well.
  3. Mash with butter, warm milk, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  4. Taste and adjust (don’t rush this part).

Optional Gravy (Highly Encouraged)

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1½ cups chicken broth
  • Salt & pepper

Cook butter + flour 1–2 min, whisk in broth, simmer until thick.


Serving Idea

Plate mashed potatoes first, top with gravy, then stack crispy tenders on the side. Add:

  • Corn
  • Green beans
  • Coleslaw
  • Biscuit or Texas toast
