Fried Potatoes & Onions

Posted on February 10, 2026 by Admin

Ohhh yes. Classic comfort food incoming 😄
Here’s a simple, crispy Fried Potatoes & Onions recipe—the kind that smells amazing and goes with everything.

Fried Potatoes & Onions

Ingredients

  • 3–4 medium potatoes (russet or Yukon gold are perfect)
  • 1 medium onion (yellow or sweet)
  • 2–3 tbsp oil (vegetable, canola, or olive oil)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Optional but 🔥: garlic powder, paprika, or a pinch of red pepper flakes

How to Make It

  1. Prep the potatoes
Wash, peel (optional), and slice into thin rounds or small cubes. Thinner = crispier.
  2. Parboil (optional but recommended)
Boil potatoes in salted water for 5–7 minutes until just tender. Drain well.
👉 This helps them cook faster and get golden instead of soggy.
  3. Heat the pan
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Fry the potatoes
Add potatoes in a single layer. Don’t stir too much—let them brown. Cook ~8–10 minutes, flipping occasionally.
  5. Add onions
Slice onions and toss them in once potatoes are mostly golden. Lower heat to medium.
  6. Season & finish
Add salt, pepper, and any extras. Cook another 5–7 minutes until onions are soft and caramelized and potatoes are crispy.

Tips for next-level goodness

  • Cast iron skillet = elite crispiness
  • Add butter at the very end for extra flavor
  • Serve with eggs, sausage, burgers, or straight out of the pan 😅
