My husband’s cooking is excellent, but the consequences? Grease everywhere! How can I deal with the mess in this photo?

When someone loves to cook—especially frying or sautéing—grease splatters can end up on the stove, backsplash, cabinets, and even nearby walls. The good news is that you can clean it effectively with a few simple steps.

Step-by-Step Method to Remove Grease

1. Use Warm Water and Dish Soap

Grease dissolves best with warm water and a mild degreasing soap.

What to do:

  1. Fill a bowl with warm water and a few drops of dish soap.
  2. Dip a microfiber cloth or sponge into the mixture.
  3. Wipe the greasy surfaces gently.
  4. Rinse the cloth and wipe again with clean water.

This works well for stoves, countertops, and tiles.

2. Baking Soda for Stubborn Spots

If the grease is sticky or dried:

  1. Sprinkle a small amount of baking soda on the greasy area.
  2. Add a little warm water to make a paste.
  3. Gently scrub with a sponge or soft brush.
  4. Wipe clean with a damp cloth.

Baking soda helps break down tough grease without scratching most surfaces.

3. Vinegar Spray for Cabinets and Backsplash

Grease often sticks to kitchen cabinets and walls.

DIY spray:

  • Mix 1 part white vinegar + 1 part warm water in a spray bottle.

Spray lightly, wait 1–2 minutes, then wipe with a microfiber cloth.

4. Lemon for Odor and Shine

Rub a cut lemon over greasy spots on stainless steel or tiles, then wipe clean.
Lemon helps cut grease and removes cooking odors.

Tips to Prevent Future Grease Mess

  • Use a splatter screen when frying.
  • Turn on the kitchen exhaust fan while cooking.
  • Wipe the stove and nearby surfaces immediately after cooking while grease is still soft.

✔️ Quick trick:
If grease is very thick, place a warm damp cloth over the spot for a few minutes. The heat softens the grease, making it much easier to wipe away.

If you want, you can upload the photo, and I can tell you the exact cleaning method for that specific type of grease mess (tile, stainless steel, cabinet wood, etc.).
