Pan-Fried Halloumi

Posted on January 24, 2026 by Admin

Ooo, great choice β€” pan-fried halloumi is elite comfort food 😌
Here’s a simple, foolproof recipe that gives you that golden crust with a squeaky-soft center.

Pan-Fried Halloumi

Ingredients (Serves 2–3)

  • 1 block halloumi cheese (200–250 g / 7–9 oz)
  • 1–2 tbsp olive oil (or butter for extra richness)
  • Optional extras:
    • Fresh lemon wedges
    • Honey or hot honey
    • Chili flakes
    • Fresh herbs (mint, thyme, parsley)

Instructions

  1. Slice the halloumi
    • Cut into slices about Β½ inch (1–1.5 cm) thick.
    • Pat dry with paper towels (this helps it brown better).
  2. Heat the pan
    • Place a non-stick or cast-iron pan over medium-high heat.
    • Add olive oil and let it get hot but not smoking.
  3. Fry the halloumi
    • Add the slices in a single layer (don’t overcrowd).
    • Cook for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  4. Serve immediately
    • Remove from pan and serve hot β€” halloumi is best right away.

Topping Ideas (Highly Recommended 😏)

  • πŸ‹ Classic: Squeeze fresh lemon over the top
  • 🍯 Sweet & Savory: Drizzle with honey or hot honey
  • 🌢 Spicy: Chili flakes + cracked black pepper
  • 🌿 Fresh: Chopped mint or parsley
  • πŸ… Mediterranean: Serve with tomatoes, olives & cucumber

Serving Ideas

  • With a salad or roasted veggies
  • Stuffed into pita or wraps
  • On avocado toast
  • As a protein swap in bowls or pasta

If you want, I can share a crispy-outside sesame-crusted version, or a halloumi with honey & chili combo that’s dangerously good.
