ROSEMARY POWDER!

Just a pinch is enough to transform a roast, baked potatoes, or even a simple omelet into something incredibly fragrant and appetizing 🤩

If you love cooking with herbs, rosemary powder is a simple kitchen upgrade that delivers bold flavor in seconds.

Why Use Rosemary Powder?

Fresh rosemary is wonderful — but the needles can be tough and woody. Grinding it into powder:

✔ Distributes flavor evenly
✔ Eliminates sharp pieces
✔ Enhances aroma instantly
✔ Blends beautifully into rubs and marinades
✔ Stores longer than fresh sprigs

It’s perfect for:

  • Roasted chicken
  • Baked potatoes
  • Lamb
  • Homemade bread
  • Eggs and omelets
  • Salad dressings

How to Make Rosemary Powder at Home

🌿 Step 1: Start with Fresh Rosemary

Choose vibrant green sprigs of Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary). Avoid yellowing or wilted leaves.

Rinse gently and pat completely dry.

🌿 Step 2: Dry the Rosemary

You have three easy options:

Air-Dry (Best for Flavor)

  • Tie sprigs together.
  • Hang upside down in a dry, well-ventilated area.
  • Let dry 1–2 weeks until brittle.

Oven Method (Faster)

  • Preheat oven to lowest setting (around 170°F / 75°C).
  • Spread sprigs on a baking sheet.
  • Dry for 20–30 minutes, checking often.

Dehydrator

  • Dry at 95–105°F until crisp.

The rosemary is ready when it crumbles easily.

🌿 Step 3: Strip the Leaves

Once fully dry:

  • Run your fingers down the stem.
  • Discard the woody stems.
  • Keep only the dried needles.

🌿 Step 4: Grind into Powder

Use:

  • A spice grinder
  • Coffee grinder (cleaned first)
  • Mortar and pestle

Grind until fine and powdery.

For ultra-fine texture, sift through a small mesh strainer and re-grind larger pieces.

🌿 Step 5: Store Properly

  • Keep in an airtight glass jar
  • Store in a cool, dark place
  • Use within 6 months for best aroma

Label with the date!

How to Use It

Because it’s concentrated, a pinch is enough.

Try adding:

  • ½ teaspoon to olive oil before roasting potatoes
  • A small pinch to scrambled eggs
  • Into butter for garlic bread
  • Mixed with salt for a herb seasoning blend

Pro Tip

Mix rosemary powder with:

  • Sea salt
  • Black pepper
  • Garlic powder
  • Paprika

Instant homemade herb seasoning!

The Result

You get:
✔ Intense aroma
✔ Smooth texture
✔ Even flavor
✔ Gourmet-level taste with minimal effort
