This sweet chili pineapple sauce is perfect for dipping, glazing, or spooning over basically everything.
Sweet Chili Pineapple Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 cup pineapple juice (or finely crushed pineapple with juice)
- ยผ cup rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
- ยผ cup sugar (white, brown, or honey all work)
- 2 tbsp sweet chili sauce
- 1โ2 tsp chili flakes (adjust heat to taste)
- 1 tbsp soy sauce or tamari
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated (optional but great)
- 1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (slurry)
Instructions
- Simmer
In a saucepan, combine pineapple juice, vinegar, sugar, sweet chili sauce, chili flakes, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger.
Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat. - Thicken
Stir in the cornstarch slurry and simmer 1โ2 minutes until glossy and thick. - Taste & adjust
- Sweeter โ add more sugar
- Spicier โ more chili flakes
- Tangier โ splash more vinegar or lime juice
- Cool slightly
Sauce thickens more as it cools.
